This is the 2nd day at Jerry's farm, today we picked and canned corn and afterwards the girls road around on Jerry's bikes. We later went down to David's cabin in the woods next to Jerry. I also showed them the tobacco fields that were planted on our land this year. Showed them how to top and prime. They prime from the bottom up and the number of leaves taken is determined how ripe the stalks are. This is flue cured tobacco and only a few leaves are taken each time. I think now they probably get done with 3 or 4 primings because they can force ripening as opposed when I was growing up.
David's son lives in our old house across the road from Jerry's.
