ISLANDCAMPER: VISIT JERRY'S FARM /GARDEN

In July I took Kelsey, Kristi Lee, Kayla and Cindy to my brothers farm in NC to pick and can vegetables. We went up there on July 17th, arrived late so just parked the RV in his drive way. the kids slept in the RV and Dena and I stayed in Jerry's house. The next day we pulled around to his shop and hooked up power to the camper. (We had installed a 30 AMP circuit on a previous trip). The first day we picked and canned beans, the 2nd day we picked and canned corn.

Jerry had already picked all he wanted so we pulled up the plants as we went, loaded them on a trailer and took them to the house to pick the beans off the vine. So much easier this way, not as hard on the back. We canned 49 qts of beans. We worked into the night to get every thing canned as we could on get 7 qts in the pressure cooker at a time.

We picked and canned 15 pints of shelled corn and froze a lot on the cob. Experimented with freezing some with the shuck still on as we had heard this was a better way.

Jerry & Kelsey started pulling up bean plants. We pulled two rows and left two, however he planned on plow under the other two because he had new ones coming in next week
